What this site is
Cordless Outdoor is an independent site about battery-powered outdoor tools: snow shovels and snow blowers in winter, mowers, trimmers and leaf blowers the rest of the year. Most reviews treat each tool on its own. We look at them through the battery that runs them, because the battery decides how much work you get per charge, how a tool copes with cold, and what it costs to add a second tool later.
How we research
We don't have a test yard, and we won't claim hands-on testing we haven't done. Our guides are research-based:
- Manufacturer data. We read the full product listing and, where available, the manual, and quote manufacturer claims as claims.
- Owner ratings at scale. We record the rating and the number of ratings on a stated date. We give far more weight to hundreds or thousands of ratings than to a handful.
- Our own math, labeled as ours. We convert claims into comparable numbers, such as watt-hours or area cleared per charge, and show the formula and assumptions so you can check them.
- What we leave out. We skip products with too few ratings to judge, poor rating histories, or no clear company behind them, and we explain why.
- Dates on everything. Prices, ratings and product lines change. Every guide says when its data was collected.
If you find something wrong or out of date, we want to fix it.
How we make money
Cordless Outdoor is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. When you buy through our links we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. Commissions never decide which products we recommend, and we tell you plainly when a product has weaknesses, including ones we link to.
